Laura J Adams is a British artist born in Portsmouth, England in 1992, where she still resides.

Her practice consists of charcoal drawings and hand drawn animation, dealing with intense existential and psychological concerns.

Adams was raised by artistically minded parents, which engaged a passion for making art from a very young age. Her interest for working in charcoal emerged whilst studying Fine Art at Falmouth University, where she graduated in 2014 with First Class Honours.

From initial exploratory drawings, which recorded an obsessive search to understand a personal internal struggle, Adams was encouraged to create moving imagery. In 2014 her work was shortlisted for the MIDAS award, where her art was displayed at the Newlyn Gallery in Penzance. Her work was also selected and shown at ‘The Best of the West’ exhibition in Corsham (2014), and with the ‘Falmouth Fine Art’ Exhibition at the Rag Factory in London (2014).
